Elgin County Council Prioritizes Fiscal Responsibility with Approval of Budget for 2024

Elgin County Council is pleased to announce the approval of its combined operating and capital budget for 2024, totaling $101.6 million. The budget, which was approved by Council at the March 12, 2024 County Council Meeting, reflects Council’s commitment to delivering essential services while managing fiscal challenges and fostering economic growth in the region.

New Curator Hired for Elgin County Museum

The Elgin County Museum is pleased to announce the appointment of Madeleine Howard as its new Curator, effective April 2nd, 2024. Madeleine will succeed Mike Baker, who is set to retire at the end of March after years of dedicated service to the Museum. With a profound enthusiasm for preserving and sharing local history, Madeleine eagerly anticipates the opportunity to delve into Elgin County’s rich heritage. “I am very excited to get started in the role as the Museum’s next curator with the opportunity to showcase the many great stories relating to Elgin County’s history,” states Madeleine.

Elgin County Encourages Community Participation in 2024 Budget Process

Elgin County is inviting community members to actively participate in the 2024 budget process. Residents will have the opportunity to review and provide feedback on the proposed 2024 Budget during the public consultation period taking place from February 8, 2024 to February 15, 2024.

2024 Total Solar Eclipse

On April 8, 2024, Elgin County and a lucky few areas in southern Ontario will witness a total solar eclipse.
