Gone but not forgotten: a great ambassador for Elgin County

Sylvia embraced politics as she did everything in her life: with gusto, dedication, smarts and style. 

She served her community as councillor, Deputy Mayor and Mayor of Central Elgin, and was Warden of Elgin County in 2008, in all, serving 12 years on county council.

Sylvia demonstrated leadership abilities by building consensus around the council table. She was respectful of the opinions of others; she was admired by her colleagues and staff at the county.

‘Her Worship’ was also a wife, mother, grandmother and daughter.  She was warm, funny and affectionate.  Her hugs will be missed.

There are people who walk through life and barely leave a trace:  Sylvia’s imprint can be seen everywhere, from service to her constituents, love of her family and friends, and devotion to her community.
