Councillor McIntyre is a retired, self-employed contractor and a member of the Southwold Township Council, where he has served for 29 years.  Mr. McIntyre also served on the new Elgin Manor Building Committee; Keystone Complex Building Committee;  and the D.A. Monteith Medical Centre Building Committee.

Councillor McIntyre was the 2005 Warden of Elgin County Council.  In addition to being a County Councillor, Mr. McIntyre is chairperson of the Green Lane Community Trust;  Chairperson of the Elgin Area Secondary Water Board;  Past Chair and Board Member of Kettle Creek Conservation Authority; and past member of the St. Thomas Elgin Health Board.

Councillor McIntyre serves as a County Council representative on the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Board and is chairperson of the Rural Initiatives Committee.
