County Council - Councillor Profiles - Dave Mennill

Dave Mennill

Yrs. on County Council:   4
Municipality:    Township of Malahide
Office:    Deputy Mayor

Councillor Mennill has returned to politics after an absence of 20 years.  He originally was elected in 1977 and remained until 1987 when he stepped down because of family commitments and the demands of farming.  Now, ‘semi-retired’ with a grown family, he is serving Malahide Township and the County of Elgin.

Mr. Mennill continued to be active in the community, serving on the Malahide #1 Fire Department for 32 years, the final years as a fire chief.  He was also a member of the County Land Division Committee for 10 years.  In addition to being a County Councillor, Mr. Mennill is the Past President of the Foundation for the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital.  Other community involvement includes working with the Corner Cupboard, Christmas Care and fundraising for the East Elgin Community Complex.  He is a member of the Aylmer Curling Club and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Councillor Mennill and his wife, Judy, have been residents of Malahide Township for 39  years; their family farm is on Vienna Line.  Their daughter Rita and son-in-law Will have two children, Lauren and Aidan.

Councillor Mennill serves as a County Council representative on the Dispute Resolution Committee and on the Social/Entertainment Committee.

Favourite Quote used by his Grandfather Dale - “But for the Grace of God there go I”.
