Bill Walters

Office:    Mayor / Elgin County Warden 2011-2012

Mr. Walters was elected Mayor in the October 2010 municipal election. He served as Mayor from 1997-2000, Deputy Reeve from 1994-1997 and as Councillor for the previous term, he is currently the Elgin County Warden. In the past, he served six years on Elgin County Council.

As a county councillor, he serves on the Dispute Resolution Committee and the Elgin St. Thomas Public Health board.  In the past, he has served on the Health board, the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital board, the St. Thomas-Elgin Public Art Centre and the Elgin County Land Division Committee.

An agricultural producer, Mr. Walters was actively involved in the International Plowing Match, hosted in Elgin County September 2010.

He has a rich history of service to his community, including:  Member, the Ontario Soybean Growers Association; Member, the Elgin Corn Producers; and was part-owner of a local Junior D Hockey Team.

He and his wife Barb have two children.
