Welcome to the Elgin County Cultural Map! The County of Elgin has a rich cultural heritage and is home to a wide variety of cultural assets which are a vital part of civic pride and local identity. Protection and promotion of the County’s cultural assets is one part of the development of an Official Plan for the County as a whole. These assets also form an essential component in the County’s tourism development and marketing efforts and are at the heart of the County’s commitment to Municipal Cultural Planning.
The assets presented here via GIS-based software were compiled by staff within the County’s Department of Community and Cultural Services based on Terms of Reference endorsed by Elgin County Council in December 2009 and after extensive consultation with community groups, stakeholders and the general public.
