Special Reading Aids
Elgin County Library offers special reading aids that will help make reading print and computer screens easier for people with low vision.
ZoomText is computer software that magnifies the computer screen. It is designed for readers who prefer large print. One computer terminal at every Elgin County Library location is loaded with this special software.
This product is also beneficial to any person with a learning disability who must hear information in order to process it. It has a "Reader" feature which allows the user to listen to text from Web pages, e-mail and Microsoft Word documents. |

Large Print Keyboards make it easier for those with low vision to identify the correct keys as they type. Each PC with a large print keyboard is also equipped with a larger monitor.

Special Formats
Large Print Books
Large print books are available at all Elgin County Library locations through a rotating branch collection.
These books feature novels of romance, mystery, adventure, westerns, historical fiction and family sagas as well as non-fiction titles including biographies. Browse our large print title list.
Audiobooks
If reading or holding books is a challenge, you might want to try having books read to you. Elgin County Library provides a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction audiobooks in digital, CD, and cassette format.
