eBook News

OverDrive introduced a special collection of eBooks for Kids to make it easy for parents to find content by age or grade level.

OverDrive Read-Alongs now available for picture book content. Watch the story unfold and read-along with OverDrive!

Amazon's Kindle eReaders are not supported by OverDrive in Canada, but you can use Kindle Fire with ePub editions of eBooks.  Similarly, NOOK users have reported being unable to register their devices without a US billing address.

If you are purchasing an eReader to use with the library's free downloading services, please ensure the make and model appear on OverDrive's list of compatible devices. Please contact the vendor before making a purchase if you have any concerns about whether the device can be used to download eBooks in Canada.

Read eBooks, including novels, non-fiction, and how-to books on your computer, or make them portable by transferring them to your eReader.  You will need your Elgin County Library card to 'borrow' these books.

Mainly fiction & bestsellers

Mainly nonfiction & how-to books

Download eBooks from Project Gutenberg

Another great source for free eBooks is Project Gutenberg. The books that are available through this service are older titles that are no longer under copyright protection.
